Next month we visit my nanna. I look forward to meeting her, though she has become a little obstinate in her old age. I will not embarrass her by sharing her years, but let us simply say she is a woman with thoroughly practiced wisdom.
I understand her daughter just brought by a litter of baby kittens for amusement. Of course, her daughter had to endure an extended lecture on raising baby kittens. I am certain my granny would have loved to keep one or two of the kittens, but they are simply too much for her to manage at this point.
I constantly see something puzzling at her place when I see her. Last time, I found many books on penny stocks on her cocktail table. My grandmother trading penny stocks? That is nuts. I wonder what I will discover on her coffee table this time.
This year will make for an active visit. We have to put in her different Emtek door knobs and air conditioner filters then repair her garden cart. I likewise need to bring her old pot and pan to charity because she just bought a fresh set of pots and pans to replace them. As a reward, she claims to also have bought the best ice cream maker and the very best of all the electic coffee makers. I am thankful, but I also must laugh softly as she invariably claims to have or utilize only the very best of this or that.
If all proceeds well, she’ll use both to serve me some fabulous java at dawn and ice cream in the afternoon. This sounds like more than pay back enough for my assistance. I’m happy to assist her for nothing, but a bit of rich java and creamy ice cream does not bother me.
