Technology is both a boon and an intrusion into our lives. Just about everyone carries a cellular phone around all of the time - but many times we are so easy to reach to everyone we waste a lot of time. Privacy can suffer, too - with the easy access to cell phones, anyone can reach you at any time.

So what do you do when you need to learn who is the owner of a number that has called you? The old phone directory is not real useful any more - what you need is some kind of cell phone number directory.

Very few numbers are published today than at any time - there are dozens of cell providers with so many numbers, there is not one source where you can look up a number or do a reverse lookup if required.

It is better to choose services that are forthcoming about their fees up front. The nice thing is that those charges are generally very reasonable for the extent of service you get. Don’t forget to use the entire number, including the area code when you make your first search for cell phone numbers on the web - the web site won’t function if you don’t have the area code. The same number can exist on many networks, with just the area code different. You absolutely need the area code to perform your search.

A better plan is to find web sites that tell you their fees clearly and provide some kind of guarantee. That way you can get a refund if the service does not get you the number or name that you need. Finding cell listings online is not difficult- just sign into one of these new search sites and get the information you seek.
